Nestled amidst a rare green belt along the bustling Delhi

relatively new hotel called Dusit Devarana. This purple billboard often
distracted me, lured me from far.
Some days I would start looking for it after
crossing the Gurgaon toll, for it meant I was half way home. It captured my imagination. Almost as effectively as a discreet dance
school billboard captured Richard Gere’s imagination on his way back from work
every day in ‘Shall We Dance’. The message of that movie was beautiful.
Sometimes in the rigmarole of eking out a perfect life, we often forget the
essence of life itself. Everything is routine, mundane, bound in time and

based on natural products. Be it the herbal oils, pastes and scrubs, for which

Menu is rather extensive and Hamam is their speciality, I tried the Devarana
Signature Massage (90
mins).

Devarana Spa, this unique massage combines strong pressures of Thai, Ayurveda
and Shiatsu techniques with Swedish and Aromatherapy influences for the
ultimate soothing and pampering experience. The signature massage comes
together with a bowl of hot water with freshly sliced kaffir lime and orange
for respiratory clearing.
The Spa Director,
Puja Bhasin is passionate about educating the guests about the best treatments
suited to them. She listens unhurriedly to my specific issues regarding my health and does an analysis of my needs. She recommends, starting the therapy with steam rather than the
other way round. The reason is to warm up the body in such a way that the
absorption of the oils is maximum and relaxation is enhanced.
The luxurious room
transports me to some other century when royalty basked in the ancient beauty
rituals of yore. My therapist is very professional and deft at her craft.
Vigorously and laboriously, she cajoles the frayed senses and stressed muscles
into a state of complete relaxation. I
feel light as a feather and my skin definitely feels supple and pampered. It is
an indulgence I am sure to savour again, whenever the time permits.
The ambience of the
spa plays a major role in enhancing this experience. Dusit Devarana Spa stakes
